Welcome to Mindful Actors: a monthly workshop series exploring mindset, emotional resiliency and the tools we need to thrive as actors.
Mindfulness is the ability to pay attention to the present moment, on purpose and non-judgmentally. When we’re acting, this comes naturally. We’re in our bodies, aware of our thoughts, curious and excited by our emotions and reactions to the world around us.
But for many actors, this state of being stops when the cameras stop rolling or they step off stage. In “real life”, as well as in the business of acting, we’re stuck in our heads, swirling in self-criticism and doubt. We often have a hard time fully feeling and expressing our emotions, and tend to people-please and accommodate instead of being authentic and vulnerable. Not only does this limit our ability to live joyful lives, it also holds us back from being daring and powerful in our careers.
In this workshop series, we’ll explore tools and topics that take the experience of Mindful Embodiment into our real lives, so we can feel courageous, authentic, and clear as we pursue our goals as actors. This is not an acting class, or even a business-of-acting class. It’s a space to explore the LIFE of an actor, and how to create well-being so we can flourish in our work.
